First Solar Collector
In the year 1767 a \ scientist named Horace-Benedict de Saussure created the first solar collector. it was an insulated box covered with three layers of glass to absorb heat energy. Saussure’s box became widely known as the first solar oven, reaching temperatures of 230 degrees fahrenheit. -
1st Battery
The first battery was invented in 1800 by Alessandro Volta. his battery is called the voltaic pile because it's a pile, or "stack" of discs, made from 3 different materials. Some of the discs are made from copper, some from zinc. But its a pile or stack of items put together to give off static electricity. -
1st electric motor
in 1821Michael Faraday made the first electric motor. It worked using the force of magnetism. electric motors are used in fans, washing machines, fridges, pool pumps, vacuum cleaners and fan ovens. -
1st electric telegraph
the first reliable electronic telegraph machines was built in the1830s by Samuel Morse. he developed a telegraph system designed to use a code of pulses to send messages. -
1st lightbulb
Thomas Edison created the first lightbulb made with carbon-based, high-resistance, filament that burned for 13.5 hours. -
1st hydro electric dam
the Appleton plant used the natural energy of the Fox River in Appleton, Wisconsin. the Appleton Edison Light Company, was initiated by Appleton paper manufacturer H.J. Rogers, who had been inspired by Thomas Edison's plans for an electricity-producing station in New York. -
1st wind turban
the first wind turban was made in Cleveland, Ohio by Charles F. Brush. The turbine’s diameter was 17 meters (50 feet), it had 144 rotor blades made of cedar wood, and it generated about 12 kilowatts (kW) of power. -
1st Geothermal plant
John D. Grant creates the first geothermal power plant by using steam. he built the first well to build a second well, and, several wells later, the geothermal plant is producing 250 kilowatts of energy -
1st mega watt wind turbine
The Smith-Putnam Turbine, generated AC power for the electric grid at that time it was the first time a wind powered machine created more than a megawatt of power. the mega watt wind turbine even worked in tandem with a local hydroelectric plant, so that there was always wind or water power available, whatever the weather. -
nuclear energy first used
Nuclear power is the use of nuclear reactions that release nuclear energy to generate heat. scientists observed the world's first man made nuclear reactor, the Chicago Pile-1, as it became self-sustaining/critical at the University of Chicago.
