Battle of Lexington - Concord
The British lost with 250 soldiers wounded or killed and only 90 soldiers for the colonists and was a great start to the revolutionary war. The battle was made up of minutemen and major people warning the battle like Paul Revere. Battle also known as "Shot heard around the world". -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Colonists lost, but the casualties amounts favored the colonists. They did lose the fort, but won in amount of soldiers killed and only lost because the colonists didn't have enough supplies and why the major quote, "Don't shoot until you see the white's of their eyes", said by William Prescott who was the colonel of the battle. British had the Major general William Howe who was a critically acclaimed general during the war. -
Battle of Trenton
Was the best sneak attack in the war and known throughout history for some time. It was led by General George Washington and was have lost New York to the British and this was the changing point of the war. The British didn't expect it because they partied the day before because it was Christmas and were caught by surprise. The Union won the battle with losing only 2 to being frozen and 22 killed 918 captured and 92 wounded and the other 400 escaped. -
Battle of Saratoga
This was the actual turning point of the war and turned the tides of the war, winning the Saratoga campaign. General Benedict Arnold led the forces to the decisive victory forcing the enemy troops to retreat and soon enough surrender. This made the French join the fight with the Americans and helped them win the war. This also led to Benedict Arnold's betrayal of the Union. The Americans won with few deaths. -
Battle of Charleston
Was a major victory for the British, giving them the largest port in the southern colonies and leaving the Americans dumbfounded. War was coming to a close and was the last major victory for the British until they surrender. The lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton was the only major general known in the battle. -
Battle of Yorktown
This battle concluded the major conflicts of the war and had the two major generals from Britain and America; George Washington and Charles Cornwallis. Ended land operations between British and Americans. Cornwallis led his troops into a trap and was one of the dumbest decisions of the war. The surrender led the British to sign the Treaty of Paris in 1783. The Americans won with its 5,000 troops attacking Cornwallis's army.
