The Battle of Stalingrad
The Red Army made a stand at Stalingrad, which was a major rail and industrial center near the Volga River. The Germans and Russians went back and forth with each other until 90,000 Germans finally surrendered on January 31st, 1943. -
Battle of the Coral Sea
This battle caused a lot of causalities for both the Americans and Japanese. This battle ended up with a draw, which then prevented Japan from invading Australia. -
The Battle of Midway
The Japanese had planned an attack against the Americans to attack some of their fleets. The Americans surprised the Japanese though and were able to take down 4 of their carriers. This attack Japan to lose a lot of their planes and skilled pilots, and they were not able to do anymore offensive attacks in the Pacific. -
D-Day
On June 6th, 1944, the invasion on Western Europe had begun. There were many casualties due to the German invasion. But by late July, 2 million allied troops has arrived and France was liberated from Germany. -
Battle of the Bulge
Germany Launched a counter attack on Belgium and Luxembourg. They pushed the US army back that it created a bulge at the Allied lines. This was known as the largest battle in Western Europe during World War II.
