Before the Fog
Mahtab and Leila play happily in their backyard with their kites. They have family gatherings and tell stories with each other, their mother tells them of stories about Ali Baba, the forty thieves and Alladin and the magic lamp. The girls were allowed to go to school and have a good education. Leila and Mathab planned their lives up on the roof together. I was considered rude to storm into someone's home without permission. Grandma gave Mahtab a golden bracelet that means 'remember her'. -
Crossover
The family gatherings stopped and Leila left to go to a new country, Iran, where she will be safe. Mahtab went to school in secrecy and her dad and grandpa came home later because the Taliban had blocked off all of the short cut and they were being constantly watched. -
The Cold, dark fog
Mahtab feels a cold dark fog come into the house. The next day her Uncle, Wahid comes running towards her and Soraya (her sister) and screams stop as they are flying their kites across the city. Mahtab wonders why uncle Wahid had come running at them and screamed stop. Mahtab and her family decide to flee to Pakistan for a new and better life. Mahtab is unsure of how she feels about the decision. She wants to go back to see her best friend Layla in Iran. -
The Cold, dark fog cont.
Farhad follows a butterfly in the middle of soccer game and gets lost. Later the mum goes out to find him and returns with him exclaiming, "We do not know those people; how dare you disobey me, are you trying to kill us?" The next day they go to the bazaar and take photos and ID for their endeavour to Australia. -
Crossover
The family come to the markets and take their I.D photos. They come to the airport to travel to Malaysia and Indonesia before coming to Australia. -
After the Fog
Mahtab and her family are waiting to get on to the second plane trip while all of the other people at front of them are disappearing into the plane. -
