Three Witches
The three witches plan to meet again upon the heath. During an evening is when they will meet Macbeth. "Fair is foul, and Foul is fair.
Hover through the fog and filthy air".
(Act 1 Sc 1 ll. 10-11) -
Noble Macbeth
The sergeant describes Macbeth as a brave and determined soldier, for they have just came back from war. "For brave Macbeth- well he deserves that name-
Disdaining Fortune, withhis brandished steel,
Which smokes with bloody execution,...
And fixed his head upon our battlements".
(Act 1 Sc2 ll. 16-23) -
Thane of Cawdor
King Duncan asks Ross to first kill the current Thane of Cawdor, and also to give the title to Macbeth. "No more that Thane of Cawdor shall deceive
Our bosom interest: go pronounce his death,
And with his former title greet Macbeth".
(Act 1 Sc 2 ll. 63-65) -
Witches titles for Macbeth
The three witches give Macbeth three titles:
Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, and King hereafter "All hail. Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!
All hail. Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!
All hail. Macbeth, that shalat be king hereafter"!
(Act 1 Sc 3 ll. 48-50) -
Macbeths scheme
In order for Macbeth to fulfill all three titles that the witches gave him he still needs to become king. To do so he thinks that he will either have to go threw or around Malcom. -
The King is coming
Lady Macbeth got a letter informing her that the King was coming to her palace. She has no time to prepare. In the mean time is also tring to help Macbeth scheme up an evil plot to kill Duncan.
"Duncan comes here tonight".
(Act 1 Sc 5 ll. 59) -
Macbeth's Doubts
Macbeth is having doubts about killing Duncan. Duncan trusts Macbeth as a kingsmen and a host. Also the murderer of the king will go to hell. Lady Macbeth is convincing Macbeth that it is the right thing to do and that he needs to become more evil to fulfill the plan. -
Duncan is dead
Macbeth murdered Duncan in his sleep. Afer commiting the crim Macbeth feels very guilty. Macbeth also killed the gaurds that were around Duncan's room. Later Lady Macbeth goes back to hide the evidence.
"O Banquo, Banquo! Our royal master's murdered".
(Act 2 Sc 3 ll. 85-86) -
Malcolm and Donalbain Flee
Malcolm and Donalbain flee so they are not suspicioned of the murder. Also they feel that they will be safer elsewhere. -
Macbeth and Banquo
Macbeth is beinging to think that Banquo is suspicious about the kings death. Macbeth feels that Banquo knows to much. Macbeth hires two murders to kill his former friend in his command. Also in Banquo's prophecy the witches said he will father many kings. This is a threat to Macbeth's kinghood. So he wants Banquo dead. -
Goodbye Banquo
The two murders along with a third kill Banquo, but his son Fleance escapes from death. -
The Feast
Lady Macbeth and Macbeth hold a feast for the first time as King and Queen. The First murderer appears at the doorway to tell Macbeth of Banquo's death and that Fleance has escaped. At the dinner table, Banquo's ghost appears to haunt Macbeth. While Macbeth is speaking to the ghost, Lady Macbeth makes excuses for him about his unnormal behavior. Macbeth is beginging to go insane at this point. -
Macbeth's future
The witches give Macbeth three prophecies. First to beware of Macduff the Thane of Fife, Second to laugh at scornful things, no man born of woman shall harm him. Third, Macbeth will never be vanquished until Birnam wood comes to high Dunsinane Hill. -
Macduff's murdering
Macbeth feels threated my Macduff so he plans to kill him. When the murders go to Macduff's house they find that he had fled. He left behind his wife and children who the murders kill upon arrival. Macbeth is becoming very heartless at this point in the play. -
Lady Macbeth is going insane
Lady Macbeth is feeling guilt for all that she and Macbeth have done. She must have light with her all the time because she is afraid of the dark. She cannot seem to wash herself clean of the bloody mess that she has caused.
" Here's the smell of the blood still. All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand".
(Act 5 Sc 1 ll.49-50) -
Revenge
Macduff and Siward are leading an army against Macbeth for he is a murderer and a tyrant. Macbeth is not worried because of the witches prophecies. -
So long Lady Macbeth
A servant's scream is heard, and then Lady Macbeth is dead.
Macbeth doesn't seem to care, barely affected. Life is no longer important to Macbeth. -
The war cont.
Birnam Woods has come to Dunsinane, the third prophecy had failed Macbeth. Along with the first prophecy because Macduff is leading the army. The second and final prophecy fails also because Macduff was not technically born of woman, his mother had a C-section. The prophecies no longer protect Macbeth. Malcom kills Macbeth and becoms king. -
The war
Malcom orders the soldiers to cut down a tree from Birnam woods to cover themselves as they approach the castle. (Macbeth is beginging to get nervous about the upcoming fight) Macbeth is still confident about winning because of the safty that they castle will provide.
