A document in which the colonists pledged their loyalty to the crown and asserted their rights as British citizens. The King refused it. -
Prohibitory Act
Cut off all trade between American colonies and England. Removed colonies from the King's protection. -
Declaration of Independence
Continental Congress voted that the colonies were free.
