Lydia's family was told to go to bed early, at 8 PM because some British people wanted to hold a meeting in her home and said they would wake her up when they were done. She stayed up secretly and learned that British troops were being ordered to leave the city on December 4 to make a surprise attack on the Continental army camped at Whitemarsh led by George Washington. -
