The luna 1 was a Russian lunar impactor. It was the first spacecraft to reach the moon. This spacecraft was to impact the moon and collect data. -
Luna 2
The luna 2 that was lauched on september 12 1959, it was a Russian impactor. This mission was headed for the moon. It released sodium gas to see how gas interacts in space. -
Discoverer XIV
The disocoverer XIV launched and was the first U.S camera equipped corona spy satellite. It was used to spy on the Russians. It was the first spacecraft used for spying. -
Alan Shepard
Alan Shepard was the first American in space. The mission that he was on was called the Mercury Mission. This mission was only designed to enter space but not to go into orbit. -
John Glenn
John Glenn and his crew were on the mission named mercury 7. In this mission, John Glenn was the first American in orbit. This mission was the first manned mission for the United States. -
Mariner 4
The spacecraft Mariner 4 transmitted the first pictures of Mars. The spacecraft did a flyby of Mars to take pictures and observe the planet. It measured the atmospheric pressure, temperature, and that there was no magnetic field on Mars. -
Russian spacecraft Luna 9
Russian spacefraft Luna 9 was the first spacecraft to land on the moon. This spacecraft landed and took pictures of the moons surface. It also took radiation detections of the moons surface. -
Pioneer 10
The pioneer 10 was sent to the outer solar system. The pioneer 10 gave important scientific information about our outer solar system back to Earth. The last weak signal from pioneer was detected in 2003. -
Mars Probe
NASA in 1975 lauched two mars space probes. The probe was named viking 1. It was a satellite of mars to observe it and lasted 1824 days. -
Hubble Deployed
The hubble telescope was deployed in orbit on April 25 1990. It was taken to space on the space shuttle Discovery. The missionn only took 5 days in duration. -
Hubble
Hubble took pictures of the pillars of creations which is the eagle nebula. The pillars are made of gas and are 7,000 light years away from Earth. Gravity pulls clouds of dust inward and if there is enough gas there it can create a star. -
Lunar Prospector
The lunar prospector was to orbit the moon and investigate it. It was doing things like mapping the surface composition and looking for possible polar ice deposits, gravity and magnetic fields. This mission was expensive, it was $62.8 million dollars. -
Hubble
Hubble takes images of two previously unknown moons orbiting pluto. The moons are named Nix and Hydra and are 5,000 times dimmer than Pluto. They are also two or three times further away than pluto. -
Luna 25
Luna 25 is a spacecraft scheduled for the future in 2016. It is suppose to land on the moon and release a roover. This mission is a Russian mission.
