Chilean poet, diplomat and teacher. She was born Lucia Godoy de Alcayaga in Vicuña, Central Chile.
She became a teacher at the age of 15 and she taught in many places borh in chile and abroad. Her poems speak of pain, death and love. Howevr, she never married ir had children. She was awarded the Nobel Orize For Literature in 1945. She died in 1957.
