The Cable Communications Policy Act was essentially passed to ensure that cable companies were being upfront with how they handled custonerinformation. It also enforces that cable companies must virtually have written or electronic consent. I give it an A- because it does a great job at what it says it will do. It makes sure the cable companies DESTROY information after it no longer serves them a purpose and ensures they have consent. -

I'll give it a B only because it does what it's supposed to do, but this act definitely led to some devastating side effects that would later bring controversy....cough Edward Snowden cough -

Details what website operators must include in a privacy policy, and that they can't obtain information from children under the age of 13. It enhanced the number 911 and mandated that it serve as the emergency number for all non-land line phones as well. -
Standing up for Privacy

Score one for the Minors
Known as the "eraser" bill, it permits minors from removing, or request to remove, information posted on an internet site. Also prohibits web site operators from marketing or advertising products prohibited for minors.
