  • Albany Congress

    The british government send colonial repersenitves to meet in Albany, New York to develop a treaty with Native Americans and plan the defense of the colonies against France. Rejected by England and the colonies, the Albany Plan became a useful guide in the years leading up to the Revolutionary War.
  • Pontiac’s Rebellion

    The war was named after Pontiac , the most prominent leader among the natives.was actually a war executed by elements belonging to a loose confederation of various Native American tribes of the Ohio river vally region in 1763.

    -Passed by the Parliament of Great Britain.
    -Taxed items such as suger.

    Tax on all important documents and paper which effected everyone in the colonies and people didnt like that.

    After the repeal of the Stamp Act, because in the colonies were boycotting it and hurting the british.

    The stamp act was relealed do to the colonist boycotts hurting the manufactures in England.

  • Tea Act

    -British East India Company was eligible to be granted licence to export tea to North America.
    -Didnt have to sell its tea at auction in London
    -Consignees receiving the Company's tea had to pay a deposit when they buy the tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A group of colonists boarded the ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    -The Boston Port Act closed the port of Boston until the East India Company had been repaid becuase of the Boston tea party.
    -The Massachusetts Government Act unilaterally altered the government of Massachusetts to bring it under control of the British government.
    -The Administration of Justice Act allowed the governor to move trials of accused royal officials to another colony or even to Great Britain.

  • First Continental Congress

    Delegates from twelve colonies met at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
    The Congress was attended by 56 members appointed by the legislatures of twelve of the Thirteen Colonies, to talk about an economic boycott of British trade; rights and grievances and petitioning King George III for redress of those grievances.

    This Congress was held to gain independence form england and become America.

    The Olive Branch Petition was adopted by the Continental Congress in an attempt to avoid a full blown war with England. The petition affirmed American loyalty to Great Britain and entreated the king to prevent further conflict.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    The site controlled a river portage between Lake Champlain and Lake George and was strategically placed in conflicts over trade routes between the British controlled Hudson River Valley.
  • Virginia Declaration of Rights

    A document drafted in 1776 to proclaim the inherent rights of men, including the right to rebel against "inadequate" government. Helped to create the US Bill of Rights.
