    The Intolerable Acts

    These acts were established to be a punishment for the patriots who participated in the Boston Tea Party. This event is very significant because it led to the continental congress of september 1774, the congress led to the 13 colonies to be the governing body of the United states.
  • Continental Congress appoints George Washington commander-in-chief of Continental Army

    This event is very significant because the continental army was an army of people from the 13 colonies who wanted to stop the british rule. And if that army had not been made George Washington would not be the first president of The United States of America.
  • The Olive-Branch Petiton

    This Petition was important because it gave the hope to people that they would be free but also made them enraged because of the rejection. Even so, the petition gave John Adams and his colonists an opportunity to gain independence. After this peaceful compromise The Loyalist and the English got a reputation of being selfish. The rejection also led a portion of the colonist to figure out that the patriots were right in trying to gain independence.
  • Battles of Long Island and White Plains

    This event was the first battle to take place after America declared its independence. The significance of this event is that it resulted in the retreat of the Continental army away from New York and allowing the British to gain full control of New York which had been a rather important to capture for the British strategically-wise. It is also known as the biggest battle of the Revolutionary war.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris ended the revolutionary war causing the end of the British Rule and the official independence of the United States. The treaty was negotiated by a 5 member group consisting of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and Henry Laurens. After the war, 35,600 loyalists and 8,000 of them fled to Quebec.
