    Marriage of Louisa Willard and William Frederic Bateman
    Wedding took place at the Willard Homestead in Still River. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Clark Sibley, pastor of the Still River Baptist Church and took place in the northeast front room which had been decorated in laurel by the bride's elder sister, Eleanor (Mrs. Charles H.) Haskell. The bridesmaid was Mary Haskell, afterwards Mrs. Ephraim Witney, daughter of Calvin Haskell, a lifelong friend of the bride.The groomsman was Kendall Porter.

    After the wedding, Louisa and William Bateman moved to the home of Louisa's sister, Mrs. Charles H. Haskell. This house is located very near the Willard homestead where Louisa was raised.
    It is known today as 259 Still River Rd.

    Louisa and William purchased a house in Still River, near the Baptist meetinghouse. This house is known at "Brick Ends" because it used to have brick ends and was occupied for a short time by the Alcott family.
    It is now 200 Still River Rd.

    Bought "Academy" or "Rosecroft" house in Still River
    Louisa bought a house in Still River known as the old "Academy" because it had been built for a girls school in which was opened in 1834. It was later known as Rosecroft because the author William M.F. Round lived there and wrote a novel with that name that featured the house setting.
    The house is known today as 222 Still River Rd. It doesn't appear that the Batemans moved into this house until 1885, when they sold the "Brick Ends" house.
