    Louis Armstrong was born in one of the poorest parts of New Orleans, Louisiana.

    Louis Armstrong's family sruggled when his dad left his family and his mom had to resort to protitution to help his family. To support his family, Louis Armstrong left school in 5th grade and begain working, collecting junk and delivering coal. The family who hired him, told him to persue his singing career.

    Sent to Colored Waif's Home for Boys
    While celebrating New Year's Eve, Armstrong shot his stepdad's gun into the air and was arrested immediately. Right after his arrest, he was taken to Colored Waif's Home for Boys. At the facility, he was taught how to play the cornet and discovered his passion for music.
