Miles parents throw him a going away party even though he doesn't want them to. Only two people show up. -

MIles meets his new roomate, Chip Martin. Chip tells him that he likes to be called The Colonel and he gives Miles the nickname of Pudge. Miles also meets Alaska Young, the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. -
127 days before
Miles is introduced to Takumi, a friend of The Colonel and Alaska. Later that night, Miles is taken from his room, duct-taped and then thrown into the lake by a group at school called the weekend warriors. The Colonel declares war on them. -
101 days before
Alaska takes the group to McDonald's to study. There, Miles meets Lara, who Miles thinks is cute. -
100 days before
Alaska tells Miles the reason her name is Alaska and how people use the future to escape the present. -
98 days before
MIles, Alaska, The Colonel, and Takumi get caught smoking and get 10 hours of work washing dishes in the cafeteria. -
87 days before
Miles meets Alaska's boyfriend Jake while on a date with Lara. At the basketball game, Miles gets hit in the head by a basketball and then pukes on Lara. He then goes to the hospital with Lara and Takumi and is told he has an concussion. -
76 days before
Mr. Hyde, Miles religious teacher, assigns the class to answer the question "What is the most important question human beings must answer?" for their final exam. -
51 days before
Miles parents go to England over Thanksgiving so MIles stays at school with Alaska. They go through people's rooms and things and while Alaska lays on the couch, MIles think that "if people were rain, I was drizze and she was a hurricane". -
3 days before
The group plans a prank on the weekend warriors who threw Miles into the lake. They light fireworks all through out the school, dye their hair blue, and send out reports to their parents saying they are failing. -
2 days before
Alaska tells the group about her worst day ever, which was when her mom had an aneurysm attack and she was so young she did not call 911 and her dad blamed her for her mom's death. -
The last day
While playing truth or dare, Miles and Alaska finally kiss, but Alaska says it will have to be continued another time. Alaska leaves and comes back in a panic, begging Miles and The Colonel to help her leave the school so they did, even though she was drunk. -
The day after
The Eagle, the strict principle at the school, wakes Miles and The Colonel up and tells them they need to go to the gym for an assembly. There, they find out Alaska died in a car crash the night before. Miles goes outside and throws up. -
Most of the After section
Miles and The Colonel investigate Alaska's death by going to the crash site, the police station, and talking to her boyfried Jake. They also read through her book "The General in His Labyrinth". They try to find out if her death was accidental or suicide. -
102 days after
Miles, The Colonel, and Miles' dad plan a memorial prank in honor of Alaska. They have a controversial speaker come in to speak at their school. The Eagle does not punish them, even though he knew it was them. -
122 days after
Mr. Hyde hands out the final exam question for this semester which is "How will you-you personally-ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering? Now that you've wrestled with three major religious traditions, apply your newly enlightened mind to Alaska's question". -
136 days after
Miles and The Colonel get a note from Takumi saying that Alaska forgot to leave flowers at her mothers grave, which is why she had flowers in her car the night she died.
