Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Research & Planning Pre.Task
During my prem.task I carried out some reaserch on college magazines it was very limited in terms of giving me an overveiw on the convections of student magazines. -

Preliminary task
This is my preliminary task, As a result of being an amateur media creator, my preliminary task was very simplistic in terms of layout typography and images. Although creating this product was vital in order for me to gain some experience with edting. It also allowed me to discover my strengths and weaknesses and how to improve them in the future and also important skills that I needed to create my final product. -
Planning & research for main task
From looking back at my prem.task I had learnt that research and planning is essential, so I had made sure that I carried out as much research as possible. I looked at magazine covers, contents pages and double page spread. I analysed these closely so that I could see what my target audience expect to see. Which is not what I had done before, hence the reason why my student magazine did not succesfully appeal to my chosen target auidence. -
Photoshop
I began to explore photoshop and the different tools used in order to create a magazine, I watched youtube tutorials as my skills were amature, and the tutorials were quite helpful. I have now gained the skills to use photoshop effectively. -
Front cover
This is the first draft for my front cover, I attempted to add all the features of magazines, and stuck to the conventions of pop magazies. Although I tried to follow the convenctions I thought that there was still some room for improvements. -
Final front cover
This is my front cover after making improvements, I think that this looks more professional and appeals more to my target audience after gaining more knowledge on photoshop I changed the fonts and arrangement of images to make my magazine more visually appealing. -
Comaprison between prem.task & final product
My prem. does not have an image of visual hierachy whereas in my final product my main image has a meduim close up of my model. The typography is very simplistic in my first mag, and I didn't use a range of fonts to suite my purpose, however in my final prodct I ensured that my fonts and housestyle suited my purpose. For istance my second mag consists of a pink white and black housestyle with bubbly fonts to suite the purpose of my mag which was to attract young female audiences.
