Is your personal Information out there?
Cable Communications Policy This privacy act is meanrt to protect the information of cable users. It makes sure that every year, you sign a contract with your cable provider. The contract includes information about the distribution of your personal information to other companies and how you have the right to end it. I give this law a B, becuase it has good intent with ensuring contracts are renewed, but it is not specific enough. -
Do you feel your information is not secure?
https://it.ojp.gov/default.aspx?area=privacy&page=1285 The Electronic Communications Act of 1986 prevents someones information from being obtained through wiretapping. This means that someone cannot get a hold of your emails, texts messages, etc without your permission. I give this Act an A because it gives people the right to share informartion on the web that they chose to share. -
Are our children really safe?
https://cdt.org/insight/testimony-of-deirdre-mulligan-before-the-senate-committee-on-commerce-science-and-transportation-subcommittee-on-communications/ Children these days are surfing the web, just like every other American. This Act ensures that children are safe on the web. This means that internet severs or websites cannot obtain any information from any child under the age of 13. I give this Act a C, because how will the websites know your age? Most websites do not ask for age. -
It's an emergency!
http://www.house.gov/legcoun/Comps/Wireless Communications And Public Safety Act Of 1999.pdf The Wireless Ccmmunications and Public Safety Act of 1999 ensures American's that for any emergency, they just dial 9-1-1. This number gives you the option to request paramedics, officers, or the fire department in a matter of seconds. I give this Act an A+ because it is clear and makes Americans feel even safer at the push of a few buttons. -
Employers asking for social media info. is unjust!
http://www.ncsl.org/research/telecommunications-and-information-technology/employer-access-to-social-media-passwords.aspx Most Americans want the best of both worlds, a job and a facebook account. What if your employer had your username and password to your facebook account and was able to search through it? This act makes it illegal for employers to do that regardless of the circumstance. I give this act an A+ because a job should be based on your skills and not what you say on the internet, -

Photos, banned!
http://www.ncsl.org/research/telecommunications-and-information-technology/state-laws-related-to-internet-privacy.aspx This Ca. Code protects minors from their photo being on the web. This code enables minors to remove their photos from any website. Websites also, cannot make a minor advertise for a product he/she can legally not purchase. I give this code a C, because I personally feel it is not needed. It is not specific enough and lacks age requirements, etc.
