Little Jimmy decides to join the Marines
Today, on his 17th birthday, Little Jimmy announced to his family that he would be enlisting into the Marine Corps after Highschool graduation. Following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He feels that it is his purpose to serve his country and he is proud. In Erikson's 5th stage, Identity versus identity confusion, the crisis is between finding yourself and finding your place in life (Identity), and not knowing how and where you belong (identity confusion). -
Little Jimmy gets married
Today Little Jimmy (age 23) married his girlfriend Emiko, while stationed in Japan, because he fell in love with her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her and become one. In Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy versus Isolation, the crisis is committing to someone else to be with them forever in an intimate relationship (intimacy) or going though life alone (isolation). -
Little Jimmy volunteers at the local high school
Now retired, Little Jimmy (age 47) decided to sign up to volunteer in the JROTC program at the local high school. He wants to do his part to help shape and mold the next generation of the Nations Armed Forces. In Erikson's stage 7, generativity versus stagnation, the crisis is contributing to the worlds future by helping the younger generation or only worrying about yourself and doing nothing.
