The reign of James
In 1603, James becomes king of England after he ruled Scotland for 36 years. He described himself as a " old experienced King" to the parliament. -
Charles 1 follows
Charles 11 followed hiss father James 1 until he came to the throne in 1625 . He acted very hostile towards the parliament than his father was. -
End of the meeting of parliament
In 1628, King Charles 1 had ordered for the entire meeting of the parliament, and refused to let there be another meeting until 1640 -

English Civil War
In 1642, a war broke out between the parliamentary and King Charles 1. In the end the Roundheads (parliamentary) won, and defeated the Kings armies. Charles 1 later found himself captive. -
Charles 1 executed
All of the Kings enemies were a hardly united force. His execution was carried out in 1649 -
Cromwell in charge
Due to there being no king, England was then led by Oliver Cromwell and the parliament. There was a lot of difficulties between Cromwell and the Parliament. He then closed the Parliament after he had enough in 1653. -

In 1640, King Charles turned to the Parliament for help to turn Protestant Scot to make changes in their religious practices, However they rebelled
