    Eliana (age 4) successfully lead a group of kids in building a blanket fort. In Erikson's third stage, initiative versus guilt, the crisis is between feeling secure in their ability to lead others and make decisions (initiative) or feeling like a nuisance to the group (guilt).
  • Eliana's Success in Math: Industry vs. Inferiority

    Eliana (age 9) completed a difficult math problem all by herself for the first time and she finally feels smart like the other kids. In Erikson’s fifth stage, industry vs inferiority, the crisis is between feeling confident in ones ability to achieve goals (industry) or or not depeloping a spicific skill they feel society is demanding (inferiority).
  • Eliana Decides to Become a Nurse: Identity vs. Role Confusion

    Eliana (age 17) decides to go to nursing school because she thinks that it's a career she wants to spend the rest of her life doing. In Erikson’s fifth stage, Identity vs. Role Confusion, the crisis is between deciding the roles one will occupy as an adult (identity) and the individual not being sure about themselves or their place in society (Role Confusion).
