Poe is born in Boston, Massachussetts to two actors. -
His mother, Elizabeth, dies.
Having no other close relatives, Poe becomes an orphan, and is has to move in with his aunt and uncle in Richmond, Virginia. -
The Allan's move to England.

Poe attends University of Virginia
Due to his success in school, Poe is admitted to the University of Virginia with the assistance of his uncle. He does well for the first year, but soon is forced to withdraw due to his uncle's excessive gambling problem. -
Poe writes and prints his first book.
Poe writes and prints his first book, "Tamerlane and other Poems". The book recieves minimal attention. -

Attains rank of sergeant major. Leaves Army.
After serving in the Army for a couple years, and doing well, Poe is honorably discharged. Still trying to pursue his goal of being a writer, Poe continues to try and get his name out there. -
Deliberately gets kicked out of West Point.
