  David Ashcroft was born in Orbost, Victoria

  After the tragic death of three of David's siblings on the 4/2/1900, his family moved to Queensland

  David and his brother enlisted in the military three days apart. They were both assigned to 12th Reinforcements of the 2nd Light Horse Regiment, 1st Light Horse Brigade

  The 12th Reinforcements boarded HMAT A23 "Suffolk" in Sydney to travel to Egypt

  For interfering with private property contrary to standing orders, David Ashcroft was given 10 days of field punishment and well as giving up 10 days of pay.
