Kinaalda- Womanhood Ceremony
Adolescence Developmental Stage, 12 years old.
This event was the first significant life trajectory, which was my womanhood ceremony also called Kinaalda in Navajo. The purpose of the womanhood ceremony is the stage that I transitioned from middle childhood to adolescence. This was in my immediate environment with my own family which had a direct influence on my development. -
Motherhood
Emerging into young adulthood at 24 and had my first child at 25 years old. This would be at a exosystem level, my first born was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) at 3 months. I had the support of my family and early intervention, clinics, and Utah PWS Association. Becoming a mother was a wonderful experience and fulfilling. She has changed my life in a good way and how to advocate for my child. She brought my family closer together. Now I have two daughters. -
First Generation College Graduate
In my young adulthood at 26 years of age I graduated with my bachelor's degree. I am the first in my family to graduate with a 4-year degree. It was a huge accomplishment with the struggles of pregnancy and having childbirth of both my girls during mid-spring semester. Long hours of sitting in class with a huge belly. Now I am pursuing my MSW. At this point in time, the influences and experiences would lead to microsystem. The microsystem would be the support of family, work, peers, and school.
