    The Soviet Union felt as if Germany should remain divied sfter the war and not rebuilt, so the soviets kept West Berlin hostage by cutting off all traffic and water. As a result of the soviet blockade, British and American officails flew in supplies every 3 minutes for 11 months.

Both the U.S. and the Soviet Union decied not to risk nuclear war and remove the missiles from Turkey and Cuba.
