Liberia is founded.
Liberia was founded by former slaves of the United States of America. The ACS (American Colonization Society) believed that slave trade was a crime against humanity and God. Others thought that letting black Christian slaves go back to their home country would spread Christianity in Africa, and thus Liberia was founded by slaves, with the help of the ACS. -
Constitution is drawn up; Liberia becomes independent
A constitution modelled like America’s is drawn up, and then in July of that year Liberia became an independent country.
