    Soviet Expansion
    The Soviets invaded Poland, and they decide to retreat to Romania. Besides the normal rules that are guaranteed with treaties, the Nazi-Soviet non aggression pact predicted and divided European countries with each other. In November, the Soviets conquered southeastern Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and parts of Romania.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Hitler decides to go against the Soviet non aggression pact, and Germany overtakes Poland and France. Germany is slowed down by Stalin’s policy to destroy anything of use as they moved east. Germany had conquered many Soviet countries but was now exhausted from the long war. After a battle at Stalingrad, the Germans retreated.
  • Operation Torch

    Operation Torch
    In North Africa, El Alamein, the British won against the Germans. American troops did the same, pushing German troops back in Morocco. Prime Minister Churchill and President Roosevelt decided to attack Europe through Italy. American and British bombers attacked Germany factories and cities day and night, but some bombers were shot down. After the losses of Stalingrad, the three decided to invade France.

    Operation Overlord
    The Allied Nations invaded Normandy, France by water, land, and air. The Germans fail to counterattack and Operation Dragoon is carried out. On August 30, 1944, Germany retreats across the Seine.
  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference
    This WWII meeting consisted of President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, and Joseph Stalin at Livadia Palace. The purpose of the conference was to decide what to do about the countries in Europe that had gone through many conflicts. They ended up deciding that Europe would be divided into four areas, controlled by U.S., British, French and Soviet military forces.
