Germany Bombs Britain
Hitler orders air assault on Britain by bombing many of its major cities day and night breaking British morale and destroying their cities. -
Pearl Harbor
The Japanese launched an air assault on Pearl Harbor, the largest military harbor at the time. 2,403 lives were lost and the event gave the United States a reason to join the Allies. -
D-Day
The allies launched an invasion all over the coast of Normandy in an operation called "Overlord." Largest invasion of the war. -
Germany Surrenders
Germany withdraws from World War II ending all European involvement. They were forced to withdraw all their forces in Allied countries. -
The Hiroshima Bombing
President Truman authorized the first atomic bomb dropping on Hiroshima, Japan. Over 100,00 Japanese men, woman, and children were killed. -
The Nagasaki Bombing
The US dropped the second atomic bomb on Japan in Nagasaki. This bomb killed 40,000 Japanese. -
Surrender of Japan
After 2 atomic bombs being dropped on them and a country crippled by losing hundreds of thousands of lives, Japan surrendered. Marked the official end of the war.
