    The Holocaust

    The Holocaust was a genocide that took place in Europe during the war. The targets included mostly Jewish people but also homosexuals and the handicapped. Targets were sent to concentration camps where many of them died before. After many years, these camps were eventually liberated and the victims were freed by American troops.

    Neutrality Acts

    The neutrality acts were passed in the 1930's to limit the U.S. involvement in future wars. The acts were based on the belief that the U.S. were brought into the war through trades and loans with allies. The end of the neutrality was in 1941 with the Lend-Lease act.
  • Hitler invades Poland

    Hitler invades Poland
    One of the first acts that Hitler completed when he came to power was signing the nonaggression pact with Poland. Many Germans who were fond of Hitler were not in support of this act. Two days after the invasion, France and Britain decared war on Germany.

    D-Day
    Also known as the invasion of Normandy, D-Day is the day that the allied forces of America, Britain, France, and Canada attacked the German troops on the beach of Normandy, France. The allies fought to victory and the day acted as a turning point in the war.

    Battle of the Bulge

    Also known as Operation Mist and Ardennes Offensive, the Battle of the Bulge was the last German offensive attempt.The goal for Germany was to push the allied forces west from northern France to northwestern Belgium. The battle resulted in the loss of many German troops and equipment and led to the end of the war.

    Adolf Hitler Commits Suicide
    Adolf Hitler killed himself in his bunker in Berlin by taking a cyanide pill and shooting himself in the head. His wife killed herself alongside him. The couple had only been married a few days before their double suicide. Soon after the suicide, Germany surrendered in the war

    Atomic Bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    The United States dropped two atomic bombs over the Japanese towns of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The two bombs devastated their targets and caused many deaths and injuries. Bombs were dropped at the end of the war and ultimately caused Japan to surrender.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese attacked the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The surprise attack killed more than 2,300 Americans and was the event that made the US enter in the war.
