Led Zeppelin performs its first show, at Surrey University in England. -
Record deal
Peter grant got Led Zeppelin a 200,000 dollar record deal. A huge deal to make for a seemingly brand new band. They signed with Atlantic Records, who has signed with other major labels such as Cream, and The Beegee's. -
Led Zeppelin forms.
Jimmy page's band the yardbirds had just broken up and Jimmy needed more people to play in his band. He recruited Robert Plant, john Bonham, and John Paul Jones. The four played together as the new yardbirds untill john paul jones intorduced the name Led Zeppelin. -

Led Zeppelin 1 debuts on the 9th of january 1969. It ends up reaching number #10 on U.K. charts. -

Roberts Crash.
Robert Plant and his wife got into a car crash in Greece. Plant suffered from a broken ankle and his wife nearly died. he was unable to tour thus retreating to Calafornia with page and bonham where most of the album "Presence" was written. -

Bonhams Death.
john Bonham died from of asphyxiation from vomit in his sleep. That day Bonham downed four quadruple vodkas at breakfast, he continued to drink heavily all day and then after rehersals they went to Pages house where he was laid on his side and had fallen asleeep. Their tour manager and john paul jones found him dead the next day. He was 32. -
Led Zeppelin Dis-bands.
Having no replacement for Bonham the band decided to disband and go their seperate ways. This was the press statement. "We wish it to be known that the loss of our dear friend, and the deep sense of undivided harmony felt by ourselves and our manager, have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were", signed Led Zeppelin. -
