Why Lulac was formed
Lulac was back then Hispanics and Latinos were treated horribly. This led many Latinos and Hispanics in Texas to fight back. They have had enough and fought back and eventually created the League of United Latin america citizens in 1929. -
Lulac is formed
on August 14th, 1927, when delegates from The Order of the Sons of America, The Knights of America, and other allied organizations traveled to Harlingen, to officially form The League of Latin American Citizens. -
LULAC making the "School Improvement League"
Lulac formed a committee in San Antonio which led to the formation of the Liga Defensa Pro-Escolar, later known as the "School Improvement League" that fought for better schools and better education. This helped many Latino and Hispanic kids to be successful in life because they had the opportunity to go to school. -
Lulac sued to integrate the Orange County school system
Lulac successfully sued to integrate the Orange County school system, which had been segregated on the grounds that Mexican children were “more poorly clothed and mentally inferior to white children”. -
LULAC marched with and financially supported the United Farm Workers
In 1966LULAC marched with and financially supported the United Farm Workers in their struggle for minimum wages and dignity. -
lulav vs. perry
LULAC submitted to the Supreme Court the "LULAC vs. Perry" lawsuit challenging the Texas legislature's redistricting plan, on the grounds that it violated the Voting Rights Act of the Latino community in Texas and impacted Hispanic Representation.
