The 1st Atomic Bomb
The 1st Atomic Bomb to be used as a weapon is dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. At approximately 8;15 a.m. and nicknamed Little Boy. The bomb was released from a B-29 bomber plane Enola Gay, and piloted by Brigadier General Paul Tibbets. It exploded 2,000 ft above ground, killing 80,000 people instantly -

Bombing of Nagasaki
Three days after the 1st atomic bomb detonated over Hiroshima, the U.S. dropped another atomic bomb over Nagasaki, Japan. Forcing an end to World War 2. It was estimated that 75,000 people were killed immediately. -
President Truman's Announcement
President Truman speaks to the nation in his radio address. "The world will mote that the 1st atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a military base." By this time the U.S. had already dropped the 2nd bomb on Nagasaki. -
Japan Surrenders
On September 2nd, Japan formally surrendered, ending World War 2.
