Sir Edmund establishes the Himalayan trust which is building hospitals, schools and many other types of buildings all throughout Nepal. -

This year on the route to where Edmund was building a hospital, his wife and daughters plane crashed causing both of his family members to die. -

Hillary Institute
Sir Edmund Hillary established the Hillary Institute with the “Goal of recognising, rewarding and nurturing great leaders currently in play, who will provide answers to such challenges as climate change, poverty, disease, peace and justice” Sir Edmund Hillary. In 2007, the year before he died. -
His Legacy Lives On Without Him
Edmund has at least three schools named after him. Two in Auckland and one in Johannesburg. He built a very strong relationship between NZ and Nepal which will forever be remembered.
