  • Hitler's Saturday Suprises

    On March 8th Hitler launched the fist of his Saturday Suprises. These were either Military Actions or Invasions that happened during the weekends. Hitler did these on the weekends because the European leaders would go back to their homes during the weekends, giving him the an oppurtunity to do these things. On the first Saturday Suprise, Hitler built his military back up. His military was weakened by the Treaty of Versilles so he used this oppurtunity to make his military stronger for "defense"
  • Germany Takes Austria

    Germany Takes Austria
    On Febuary 12, 1928, Hitler Had a meeting in secret with Austrian Prime Minister Kurt von Schuschnigg. Hitler wanted Austria to become part of the empire. Hitler then announced that if Schuschnigg and the president of Austria didnt step down, they would invade. eventually Germany invaded on March 11. The Nazis called for a vote when there and 99.7 percent voted in favor of Austria becoming part of Germany. the Austrians were probably afraid of what would happen if they did not agree.

    On September 22 British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain decided to meet with Hitler and try to appease the Germans and make a deal with them after Hitler showed interest in a part of Czechosolvakia called Sudetenland. the Two couldnt come to an agreement, so a meeting was called on September 29 with representatives from Germany , Britan, and, France. They came to an agreement that Germany could have Sudetenland if they didnt take over any more areas.

    Germany Invades Poland
    On September 1, Germany Invaded Poland, thus declaring war on them. This was an act of retaliation against an attack on Gleiwitz. Three days later Britan and France would declare war on Germany. The next day they bombed Piotrkow and on September 5 they conquered Piotrkow and killed 20 Jews. The day after that the Germans invaded a Jewish community in Poland and set houses on fire and shot the Jews trying to escape the burning buildings.

    Once Poland surrendered, Hitler wanted to Arianize the new territory of Warthegau. Hitler made it clear that he conquered the Poles. In November of 1939 he arrested many professors and intellectuals because he thought they were a threat due to their education. They limited education to fourth grade. By late 1939 Jews had to wear yellow stars to identify themselves and were given curfews. Many Jews were forced to live in Ghettos and some in labor camps.

    Once Germany conquered France, they almost had full control of Europe, with the exception of Britan, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, and Sweeden. With most of these conquered nations they established new governments. Antisemintsm was the official party of each conquered nation. Many Jews were looked at as inferior and were made to live seperate from everybody else. The Vichi Government made it so Jews could not hold any jobs in the government.

    Hitler believed that WWII was a racial war against the inferior. On June 22 he ordered that Russia be invaded. He belived the Russian Jews were inferior as well. Murders were ordered to anyone who was considered an enemey of the state. The Russian Jews were suprised by the attacks. By the End of 1941, the Nazis had killed over 700,000 Jews . They also killed many Ukranians, Poles, Gyspies, and other "enemies of the state".

    The Day after the bombing of Pearl Habor, the United States declared war on Japan. The Japanese were allies with Germany. Japan asked Germany for their support and they agreed and on December 11 Hitler declared war on the United States. In doing this, the US, Britan, and the Soviet Union all became allies to defeat their common enemey
