  • The treaty of Versailles

    The marking of the official end to ww1. A peace treaty that had blamed Germany for the entire war. Many penalties were put upon Germany including having to reparations and weakening their army.
  • Rhineland demilitarised

    As part of the treaty Of Versailles, Germany had to demilitarise the Rhineland and give it back to France.
  • The League of Nations is formed

    A national intergovernmental organisation was formed to try and maintain world peace. Not all countries were invited.
  • Benito Mussolini

    Italian politician and journalist Benito Mussolini came into power as the prime minister of Italy. He ruled as a dictatorship and was also the leader of the national fascist party. He stabbed someone when he was 10 and had another stabbing incident after he had moved schools.
  • Joseph Stalin came into power

    Soviet politician Joseph Stalin becomes the leader of the Soviet Union as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the USSR. He ruled unopposed and with terror with killings of millions.
  • The Great Depression

    The huge economic drop in a lot of countries around the world. It affected most of the world including Germany, USA and Britain. Unemployment rose significantly.
  • Adolf Hitler came into power as chancellor

    Adolf hitler, leader of the Nazi Party was appointed chancellor by the German president Hindenburg.
  • Hitler starts rounding up Jews

    Soon after his appointment as chancellor and gaining emergency power, Hitler started his tyrannous reign against the Jews, rounding them up into ghettos and camps.
  • German president Hindenburg dies

    President Hindenburg dies, giving Adolf Hitler unlimited power over Germany.
  • Rhineland Remilitarised

    Adolf Hitler put his strengthened German army back into the Rhineland and occupied it, breaking and defying the treaty of Versailles.
  • Anschluss, Austria is annexed

    Austria was absorbed into Nazi Germany. This defied the treaty of Versailles against Germany.
  • Munich agreement

    A settlement is reached by France, Britain, Germany and Italy to allow Germany to annex and absorb some part of Czechoslovakia. This was done so to try and keep peace and Germany content.
  • Nazi Soviet pack

    An agreement between Germany and the USSR to take no military action against each other for the next 10 years. This happened so Germany can invade Poland without action from the USSR and so that peace can be kept between Germany and the USSR. This was broken in 1941 when Germany invaded USSR.
  • Nazi germany invades Poland

    Marking the start of WW2, Germany invade neighbouring country Poland and spark another huge war.
