  • 13th Amendment

    13th Amendment
    The 13th Amendment ended slavery or involuntary service/labor. This "freed" African Americans briefly before the consequence of black codes being created.
  • 14th Amendment

    14th Amendment
    The 14th Amendment granted citizenship to all former slaves born in the United States, including formerly enslaved people, and gave all citizens equal protection under the Bill of Rights. The consequence is the KKK was created.
  • 15th Amendment

    15th Amendment
    This Amendment granted African American men the right to vote. A good consequence of this amendment was that African Americans soon gained political power and began serving as local, state, and federal representatives.
  • Enforcement Act 3

    Enforcement Act 3
    The Third Enforcement Act outlawed the Ku Klux Klan activities. A good consequence was that the KKK's violence decreased.
  • Enforcement Acts 1

    Enforcement Acts 1
    The First Enforcement Act stated that it was a crime to interfere with a citizen's right to vote. A good consequence of this is that all African American men had the right to vote.
  • Enforcement Act 2

    Enforcement Act 2
    The Second Enforcment Act stated that all Federal elections must be under the supervision of federal marshals. A bad consequence of this was that some federal marshals did not agree that African American men should get the right to vote and this led to more conflict.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1875

    Civil Rights Act of 1875
    This act guaranteed all citizens regardless of color access to, public schools, and churches, and the right to own a firearm. A very big consequence was school, work, busses, and more became segregated.
