13th Amendment
The 13th Amendment abolished slavery and stated that African Americans were free. This was the first step toward freedom, creating things like the Freedman Bureau. -
14th Amendment
This amendment gave African Americans citizenship if they were born in the US. This made the 3/5ths law and African Americans were a lot more important now. After the South said no to the 14th Amendment the union placed troops in the South. -
Enforcement act 1
This enforcement act stated that there could be no crime to interfere with a citizen's right to vote. This was set to protect African Americans who were trying to vote. This unintentionally caused outrage in the South leading to more African American Deaths. -
15th Amendment
This amendment helped African Americans vote and hold office in the North and South. This was a big step in the right direction, however, this amendment unintentionally created the KKK. -
enforcement Act 3
This act said that the activities of the KKK would be illegal. However, the government did not mean to offend the KKK and now they are way more violent and the South is run by members of the KKK. -
Enforcement act 2
This part of the act was set to make sure all federal elections must be under the observation of federal marshals. The Ku Klux Klan members started to become federal marshals unintentionally. -
Civil Rights Act of 1875
This allowed all citizens regardless of race to go to movie theaters, public schools, and many other places. This created segregation in public places such as colored bathrooms or colored water fountains.
