First Mechanical Lawn Mower
The first mechanical lawn mower was invented in 1827 by a man named Edwin Beard Budding. It had blades attached to a cylinder and a handle to push. -
2nd gen. mower
The next mower was chain driver. It was invented in 1859 by Thomas Green. -
3rd gen. mower
In 1870 Elwood McGuire came out with a machine that was a lot lighter than Edwin Budding's lawn mower and was way easier to use. -
4th gen. mower
James Sumner invented a steam powered mower in 1893. This machine took paraffin or petrol fuel. -
5th gen. mower
In 1900 JP Engineering of Leicester and Ransomes' Automaton created chain-driven mowers also to be known as the first riding mower. -
6th gen. mower
Colonel Edwin George come out with gasoline running lawn mowers in 1919. -
7th. gen mower
Rotary mowers appeared in 1930 invented by power specialties Ltd. and C.C. Stacy. Stacy's version has a round blade horizontally that mounted vertically. -
11th gen. mower
By 2015 there was such thing as gas and even battery mowers which were a lot more efficient than previous generations. Riding mowers were made to be a lot nicer.
