Both Laura and Almanzo were struck with diphtheria, and while Laura recovered, Almanzo relapsed, which brought on a stroke that left him crippled and cane bearing for life. -

Rocky Ridge Farm
After years of moving around, the Wilders settle in Mansfield, Missouri. Laura dubbed the farm "Rocky Ridge Farm" , and this is where she writes the Little House Series from. -

Throughout these years, Laura writes-alot. She writes quite a bit, including being a columnist, writing for magazine articles, and writing the Little House series.She also wins 5 ALA Newberry Honor Awards and a Laura Ingalls Wilder Award. -

Laura dies
Laura died in her sleep at home from heart faliure. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday 3 days earlier.
