    1. Sam (age 11) wants to learn how to take care of a plant himself for the first time because a classmate of his told him that he and his father have an amazing greenhouse.

    3. The crisis is the child must be productive on their own and be successful. Failure to succeed leads to inferiority.
  • Adolescence: Identity vs. Identity Confusion

    Adolescence: Identity vs. Identity Confusion
    1. Sam is 17 years old. He is more independent and thinks about his future to try to fit in. Sam does not know if he should go to college after high school or hang out with friends to party.
    2. In Erikson's 5th stage, Identity vs. role confusion,
    3. The crisis is Sam does not know what he wants to do or be will lead him to role confusion.
  • Early Adulthood: Intimacy vs. Isolation

    Early Adulthood: Intimacy vs. Isolation
    1. Sam is 27 years old. He is with his partner that he met in college. Both have a very strong and healthy relationship with great friends. They agree with each other to have children of their own.
    2. In Erikson's 6th stage, intimacy vs. isolation,
    3. the crisis is between having a strong relationship and poor relationship that will lead him to isolation.
