The Allies invade "Fortress Europe" via Normandy beaches using a huge amphibious tactic assault against the Germans whom knew they would be coming their way. The Germans failed to defend the beach, and the allies won the area enough to wait for reinforcements and punched their way inland. -

Soviet Union's offense attack against Germany in which they broke the defensive flanks and drove the army back. Then sieged Berlin by attacking from the west, from the north after blowing through a German military unit, and through the east. Soviet Union would take over the city of Berlin! -

Invasion of Okinawa

A large allie assault on Okinawa, a Pacific island off the coast of Japan. The plan was for the allies to use the island as an airbase in order to attack the island of Japan with ease. The allies ended up winning and taking control of the area. -

The death of Mussolini, which ocurred when Mussolini tried to escape to Spain in the attempts to flee the war, but was found out by some Italian military officials and shot down. -

America drops the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan in attempts to show them their power so as to intimidate them into giving up and signing the treaty to end the war. This did not end up making Japan surrender -
Bombing of Nagasaki
The bombing of Japan's city of Nagasaki after the Japanese did not surrender after the bombing of Hiroshima. This port city was not the first actual target, but rather was a chosen target after Kokura was blocked by clouds. -
Japan Surrenders
Japan signs a treaty on USS Missouri which ends World War 2. Many things are given up on Japan's behalf, but one of which was not given up was the role of Emperor as leader.
