  • The Broken Column

    The Broken Column
This powerful painting by Frida Kahlo shows, pretty directly, the pain she suffered during her accident. Looking into her chest and throat, the viewer can see her spine is replaced by a broken column and she has nails in her skin throughout her whole body. The color choices are simple as to not over shadow Frida herself.
Being as famous as she is, Frida is well known for her self portraits. A theme throughout her paintings is pain and suffering and how she was able to overcome the hardships.
  • Untitled Collage

    Untitled Collage
This mixed media collage by Jane Frank is simple, but not boring. The streaks of white throughout keep the painting interesting and keep the viewer’s eyes moving throughout. Natural colors the only colors present in different shades and thickness. This untitled work leaves a lot to the imagination and gives the viewer the freedom to express there own opinion on what and why the artist created it.
