Larry moved back to the states in 1969 where he taught at the university of Pittsburgh first as the Associate Professor of Philosophy and History (1969-1972) Then as the full Professor of Philosophy (1972-1983). While at Pitt he occupied the Founding Chair of History and Philosophy of Science.

Progress and Its Problems
In 1977 Larry Laudan published his first book Progress and it's problems. One of Larry's most influential works in this her critically examined the concept of the scientific progress and proposed a different concept of how science advances. References:

A Confutation of Convergent Realism
In 1981 Larry Laudan wrote the notable essay called A Confutation of Convergent Realism. In this essay Laundan challenges the concept in philosophy known as convergent realism. It was a significate contribution to the ongoing debate about scientific realism and the nature of scientific progress.
