Walking
Walking was the first form of land transportation. This is because when humans were born, they learned how to walk to get around faster and easier. Walking is still the easiest way to get around small distances and is mainly used in cities today. -

Donkey and Horse
Donkeys and horses were used worldwide to carry belongings and materials. Merchants used these to travel and sell stuff at different locations, and normal people used them for just riding them around. -
3500 BCE
The First Wheel
The first wheel was invented by the Mesopotamian people and was a revolutionary invention. The wheel was used to create many new land transportation creations, such as wagons, cars, and bicycles. -
2800 BCE
Chariots
Chariots were invented in 3000-2000 B.C. and were a mixture of wheels and horses. Invented by the Mesopotamian people, they were used in the military by Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Sometimes, Greece and Rome would use war chariots for racing games. -
1500 BCE
Carriages
Carriages were similar to chariots in use, but were different in design. Instead of a carriage having a space for 2 people to stand up on, the carriage had a covered roof, seats to relax on for long rides, and bigger leg room. Only the truly wealthy could afford carriages. -
Locomotive Train
The first train was invented by Richard Trevithick in 1804. He was a British engineer and inventor. It was used to haul 10 tons of iron from Merthyr Tydfil to Abercynon, Wales. -
Stagecoach
The first stagecoach was made in 1826 by Abbot and Lewis Downing. It was around $1200 to $1500. Stagecoaches were basically taxis in the 1800's. -
Cars
The first car was made by Karl Benz and was a wagon with a motor in it. Karl Benz was a German inventor who founded the famous car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz. It was not really available to a lot of people, so Henry Ford, the founder of Ford, made the Model-T so many people could own their own car.
