Sopwith Camel
It was a replacemnt for the sopwith pup. It was was a British First World War single-seat biplane fighter. It was the most important allied plane in WW1. A very manoverable plane and was the plane that revolutionised plane fighting. Before this planes were just used for spying on enemies not for combat. It was also very light meaning that it is very good in the air. -
Hawker Hurricane
It was the most successful allied fighter in WW2. The plane could take many hits. This is important because its german rivals went down quite easily. One of it's weaknesses was that it could only carry one person. This means that it wasn't very effective at taking other planes down. it was also the first plane to go faster than 300mph. -
Hawker Typhoon
It was the first plane to provide close air support. One of it's main advantages was that it had a top speed of over 400 mph meaning that it iis much fatser than its rivals. However, a weakness was that it wasn't very agile meaning it wasn't good on its own in dogfights. It was very capable of carrying bombs to drop on other enemies. But more often it carried RP's not bombs. -
Hawker Hunter
It was normally a single seat plane but also had many two seat variables. It was a very maneoverable AND a very fast plane. This was a rare combination which is why this plane was so successful. It had an engine from an English Electric Canberra bomber. It was also a very powerful plane as it could carry bombs and also was armed with four 30 mm ADEN cannon, with 150 rounds of ammunition per gun. There wen't many weaknesses in this plane and was very hard to take down in any type of battle. -
Hawker harrier
The unique thing about this was that it could take off vertically. Another advantage was that the pilot could change the planes thrust by changing the angle of the nozzle. It was generally used as a fighter or a support aircraft.
