    The fist Union formed in New York when the journeyman shoemakers began to organize to protest wage reduction. They then fully became a recognizable union in 1794 when they formed the Federal Society of Journeymen Cordwainers in Philidelphia.

    The Great Railroad Strike
    A nationwide strike were rail road workers refused to work because of an industry wide pay cut of ten percent. Riots often broke out due to this event resulting in federal troops coming in the break up the strike.

    Ludlow Massacre
    Some coal miners were unhappy with their occupation so they went on strike. They set up tent cities in southern Colorado and lived there until the Colorado National Guard in league with the mining company attacked them and killed a significant number of the men and their families.

    This act was designed to make importing harder so that focus would shift back on the american labor to produce products, along with bringing in revenue. it is thought of as a responsible part in causeing the depression and in part crashing the US economey because of the lack of imports that were already relied on.

    This act created minumum wage and maximum working hours for laborers. The maximum working hours per week was set at 40 and is still in effect today. How ever the minimum wage has increased since this act was passed.

    Therefore labor unions have changed over time, just like almost idea and busnessis beliefe has over time. This is similar to technology because for the most part it has improved. Just like technology and inovations have led the world foward, labor unions have changed and for the most part for the better.
