  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord
    These were battles fought in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The Battles of Lexington and Concord are known as the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. British troops marched from Boston to Concord to seize a cache of illegal weapons, as they arrived they were confronted by militiamen and they opened fire on each other.

    The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga
    This event was when a small number of militiamen crossed Lake Champlain and seized The British fort. In the early morning hours these militiamen surprised the British and were able to capture the fort due to the British soldiers still sleeping and not being ready.

    The Battle of Chelsea Creek
    This was the second battle for the Boston militia in their attempt to seize Boston. The colonists fought the British on islands and marshes throughout the Boston back bays. The Militia won this battle and conquered the Royal Armies livestock, supplies and destroyed British ships.

    This was a battle between the Colonists and the British army right outside of Boston. The colonists occupied Breeds hill and had the high ground right outside of Boston. The British advanced up the hill and experienced heavy fire from the colonists. After three tries to get up the hill the British made it and defeated the colonists.

    The colonists tried to capture the British controlled city of Quebec in hopes of gaining support from the people in Canda. This battle was one of the first real losses for the colonists and they experienced heavy losses. After a number of tries to penetrate the city the colonists were forced to retreat.

    This was a battle when the British attacked the Americans when they were stationed in now known as Brooklyn. The British sent in a small force of men to fight the Americans. While the Americans concentrated on the small force the larger British army came in from the other side and defeated the Americans. The Americans escaped to the south to avoid being captured.

    The Battle of White Plains
    This was a battle in the British conquest to isolate the northern colonies and gain control of New York. British General Howe moved his men to white plains to prepare an attack. Seeing this General Washington moved his men and fortified their lines right near White Plains. The British defeated the colonits and the Americans retreated North to safe ground.

    This was when the British attacked and seized the American Fort, Fort Washington. After successfully winning battles in Long Island the British moved to New York City. They attacked Fort Washington and after very little fighting the colonists surrendered the Fort.

    The Battle of Trenton was a very important battle to the Continental Army. With morale dangerously low Washington and his men crossed the Delaware river and attacked a British outpost in Trenton, New Jersey. Along with a morale boost the colonists got muskets, ammo, and other supplies.

    This was a battle fought right near and in Princeton New Jersey. The British troops had almost surrounded the Continental army in Trenton so George Washington snuck around the British but was caught by the last of their troops. The Colonists easily defeated the British.

    The British while marching across New York demanded that Fort Stanwix be surrendered. About 800 Militiamen tried to come to the fort to save it but thety were ambushed about a mile away. The battle that came as a result of this was one of the bloodiest in the American Revolutionary War.

    This battle took place in New York and was part of the Saratoga Campaign. The British needed supplies desperatly so they tried to raid a colonists post. The colonists outnumbered the British and they defeated them.

    This battle was when the British launched a full-scale attack on a Continental army fort near Brandywine Creek. The Britsih heavily outnumbered the colonists and George Washington with the fear of beeing surrounded ordered his men to retreeat.

    The Battle of Saratoga is widely known as the turning point of the American Revolutionary War. This battle was when British troops and the Continetnal Army clashed on A man named John Freeman's farm. It was a very close battle but in the end the British held their ground and won.

    This battle was when Genral George Washington and his men launched a suprise attack on the poorly prepared British in Germantown. Despite the British not being prepared they still defeted the colonists. The colonits suffered heavy casulatiles compared to the British.

    This battle is truly the turning point of the war. This was when Britsh troops ran into American troops on their way down from Canada. Ultimately the Americans won the battle and that was the beginning to their victory.

    This was a battle fought at the Monmouth County Courthouse in New Jersey. After the British surrendered in Saratoga they marched to New Jersey. The Continental Army started to attack the British, but eventually were forced to retreat.

    This was when the British troops launched a surprise attack on the Continental Army In Savanah Georgia. The suprised colonists lost this battle and the British controlled now controlled Svanah.

    This battle was one of the worst losses for the Continental army during the Revolutionary War. The colonists surrendered to the British giving them large amounts of supplies and the British took over 3,000 prisoners.

    The British won this battle very easily . The colonists were forced to surrender due to widespread dysentery throughout their troops. The Continental Army chose to engage the British not knowing, most of their men were sick.

    This battle was won by the colonists who defeated a rag tag force of American Loyalists. The Loyalist had the high ground and the colonists charged up the hillside many times eliminating the enemy. Finally the Loyalist charged down the mountain and were defeated by Continental Army.

    This battle was won by the Colonists who defeated the British very badly. They inflicted heavy casualties on British. The Continental Army sent small groups of men to fight instead of larger ones because they were easier to feed.

    While the British won this battle it was really an unmarked victory for the colonists. They killed many British and even made the British abandon there plans to take the Carolinas.

    The Battle of Eutaw Springs
    This battle was won by both sides and the last real war in the Carolinas. The Colonists attacked the British early in the morning not letting them have a chance to eat. Once the colonists won they started to eat the food. After this a suprise attack was led by the British that led to both sides retreating.

    This battle lasted a couple of weeks and was the last battle of the war. The French fleet attacked the British by sea while the Colonists attacked them by land. After weeks of bombardment the British officially surendered to the Colonists.
