North Korean Invasion of South Korea
North Korea decided to invade South Korea with the Russia's permission. This marked the official start of the Korean War. Their goal was to advance to the capital, which is Seoul.

U.S joined the War
On June 27th, 1950, President Harry Truman decided to come to the aid of South Korea by sending the U.S troops to Korea with the intention of stopping the spread of communism.

Battle of Inchon
General McArthur led the troops from the city of Inchon to the capital, Seoul. The battle resulted in the US getting Seoul back, which was in possession of North Korea.

China joined the War
Due to the fact that China was and still is a communist country, they decided to join the war and fought along side North Korea. China won a few victories, which resulted in the U.S troops and South Korea being pushed back to the 38th Parallel.

Stalemate
North Korea and South Korea were in stalemate. A few important battles that happened during the stalemate were: Battle of Bloody Ridge, the Battle of the Punchbowl, the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge, the Battle of Old Baldy, the Battle of White Horse, the Battle of Triangle Hill, the Battle of Hill Eerie, the sieges of Outpost Harry, the Battle of the Hook, the Battle of Pork Chop Hill, and the Battle of Kumsong. -
Battle of Heartbreak Ridge began
The Battle of Heartbreak Ridge began on Sept 13 and lasted until Oct 15 of 1951. The U.S and French troops fought with China and North Korea troops in aid of South Korea. The U.S and French troops won the battle.

Peace Talk began
The Korean peace talks were moved from Kaesong to Panmunjom on October 25, 1951. This relocation was decided in the terms of the Panmunjom Security Agreement, signed earlier on October 22. Participating in these talks were the Korean People’s Army and the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army, negotiating with the United Nations Command (U.N.C) headed by the U.S.

Armistice Agreement was signed
On Jun 27th, 1953, North Korea and South Korea came to an agreement and signed a truce to stop the war. However, Korea is still divided. No victory was claimed. The two countries agree to create a neutral zone called the Demilitarized Zone to separate the countries.

Geneva Conference
Although, the agreement was signed to stop the war between North Korea and South Korea, U.S and China representatives fail to come to an agreement in Geneva, which resulted in Korea being divided until today.
