Japanese occupation of Korea begins
Korea under Japanese rule began with the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1876. The Japanese Empire took control of Korea both politically and economically. Japanese rule ended with the Treaty on Basic Relations Between Japan and the Republic of Korea. -
