Hassan and Amir's Kite Competition
When Amir won the kite competition, Hassan went to collected his kite like a good servant. Amir followed him and was that Hassan was being "beaten up" by some local bullies. Amir says "Maybe Hassan was the price I had to pay, the lamb I had to slay, to win Baba. Was it a fair price?" Amir does nothing, making the excuse that it was the price to pay to win over Baba. Baba and Amir escape Kabul
"We left Kabul just two in the morning" (Hosseini 110). Baba and Amir escape Kabul and retreat to America because of a Russian invasion, where they try to start a new life and Amir puts his past behind him. -
Amir Graduates College
"I would enroll in junior college classes in the fall, I told Baba the day after graduation." (Hosseini 134). After many years of settling down, he finally graduates high school. He wants to help Baba sell stuff but Baba insists that he go to college. -
Amir meets Soroya at the Flea Market
"My heart shuttered at the thought of her. Soroya Taheri. My Swap Meet Princess. He and Amir are dating and finally gets the blessing from Soroya's dad. -
Baba passes Away
"'Okay,' she said. She pulled up his blanket. We closed the door. Baba never work up" (Hosseini 173).He refuses to take the medicine that would help him live longer. He didn't trust the Russian doctor after the altercation with the Russian soldier. -
Farzana and Hassan getted killed by the Taliban.
"Hassan protested again. So they took him to the street..." (Hosseini 219). Amir hasn't realized until one year after they had been killed. -
Amir got a call from Rahim Khan.
"Come. There is a way to be good again" (Hosseini 192). He traveled to Afghanistan to fetch Sohrab for Rahim Khan's wish before he died and also to redeem himself and show atonment. -
Amir flies a Kite with Sohrab
"Do you want me to run that kite for you? ... For you, a thousand times over" (Hosseini 371). This is basically the end of the book. -
This is the first time Sohrab smiles.
Amir brings Sohrab to San Fransisco. When Amir flies a kite with him, he finally smiles. "I looked down at Sohrab. One corner of this mouth had curled up just so. A smile" (Hosseini 370).
