During the late 1960s Baba wanted to make a diffrence. Baba built an orphanage all by him self,"despite the fact he had no architectural experience." (Hosseini 13) He built the orphanage from the ground up. -

Kite Runner- Amir turns 13
In the summer of 1976 Amir turned 13. This birthday was a milestone because it was right after Amir had won the kite game and Baba wanted to, "invite the whole world..." (Hosseini 93) so he could show off his son to everyone in Afghanistan. Amir did not enjoy all of the attention the guests were giving him because he was constantly worrying about Hassan's rape. -
Kite Runner- Hassan gets plastic constantly
When Hassan turned ten, on this birthday Baba gave Hassan a plastic surgery so he could, "fix things on peoples (Hassan's) bodies.." (Hosseini 45) Hassan decied he would fix his cleft lip. -
Kite Runner- Hassan and Amir win the kite game
During the cold winter of 1975 Hassan and Amir competed in the kite game then, "Hassan was screaming..' bravo! bravo, Amir agha!'"(Hosseini 66) Amir had won the kite game. When he won he finally earned the respect he longed for from Baba. -
Kite Runner- Hassan gets raped by Assef
In the dark winter of 1975 Hassan got corner in an alley by Assef and his friends. Then Assef raped Hassan and Hassan,"didn't even whimper"(Hosseini 75) Amir watched this happen and just stood there and did not do a thing.This was the day that changed the course of Ali, Hassan, Amir, and Baba's life. -

During 1976 Hassan and Ali decided, "We are leaving... We can't live here anymore." (Hosseini 106) Hassan told Ali about Assef rapeing him causing Ali to immediately leave Baba and Amirs house. -

Kite Runner-Amir and Baba arrive in Freemont
In 1982 Amir and Baba finally arrive in Freemont after two years of travel, "Baba loves the idea of America" (Hosseini 125) Which is why he was willing to scarafise not living in Kabul with his friends. He also gave up two years of his life to travel to America. -

Kite Runner-Amir graduates high school
Once Amir and Baba reached the Bay Area Amir started high school. Amir started high school much later than everyone else making him the, "By far the oldest senior.." ( Hosseini 131) Amir worked very hard in high school so he would be able to pursue his dream of being a writer. The following fall Amir attended junior collage. -
Kite Runner-Amir and Soraya get married
In 1985 Amir and Soray got married,"Soraya appeared at the end. Dressed in a stunnng wine colored traditional Afghan dress.."(Hosseini 168) Amir asked Baba when he was diagnosed with cancer if he was ask Soraya's family if she could marry Amir. -
Kite Runner-Baba dies
In 1985 Baba was diagnosed with cancer. In 1986 when Soraya and Amir got married they moved into Baba's apartment to help Baba. But on the night he did not want to take his meds,"Baba never woke up." Baba did a peaceful death in his sleep. The night he died he finally read one of Amirs short stories in the notebook Rahim Khan gave him. -

Kite Runner-Amirs first novel gets published
Amir worked hard to prove everyone wrong that he could write nonfiction stories. Soraya and Amir were both very excited when they got the call, "I was going to be a published novelist" Amir wanted to be a writer ever since Rahim Khan gave him the spiral notebook. This novel represented all of the hard work and sacrifices that Amir made to be in the Bay Area away from Afghanistan. -

Kite Runner- Sohrab and Amir fly a kite together
In 2002 Amir takes Sohrab to a park in the bay area, there they fly a kite. They end up cutting the other kite off, resulting in them winning. Once the other kite flew down Amir askes Sohrab if he wants the kite, Sohrab says yes. Then Amir says," For you a thousand times over."(Hosseini 371) This is an important quote because the whole story becomes full circle from when Hassan said that to Amir to when Amir says it to Hassan's child. -
